I was surprised with Ctonics, only because I thought that the lather would be practically non-existent somewhat like a conditioner. So when I did the step two, it actually lathered up quite a bit so I was able to get a really good clean, squeaky clean in-fact. I tell ya what tho, the aroma in the hot shower with Ctonics was so divine, I don’t know about the others in the range as yet, but with the CORE, it was so nice. Even nicer finishing off with Blossom. My hair is great today, but then again my hair isn’t the fussiest so I am keen to see how it works out on other types of hair. I need someone with naturally curly hair to test on. Any Takers? xox Julie
I like the aroma of this lotion; it has a calming feeling and makes me feel in touch with nature. I like to use in the morning after a shower and particularly enjoy using this in the winter months when you have to put stockings or pants on soon after. As its light and not greasy, it sinks straight in to the skin not leaving a residue on you or your garments.
Wash off Cleansing Mouse
I am loving this Cleansing Mouse. I have been a double cleanser for years, my routine of first using milky cleanser then a foaming cleanser so I have my skin feeling super clean and shiny, squeaky clean! With the Wash Off Cleansing Mouse I only have to use once, twice if I am super keen but my skin feels soft, smooth and most importantly super clean! Just love it, no more need for 2 cleansers!
Mallow Beauty Balm
I have been using the Mallow Beauty Balm as an eye cream and loving it. Within a week I noticed my fine lines smoother. I love how it’s not greasy and is easily absorbed, no residue so I know all the goodness of the product is where it should be. In my skin.
Just Face Cream
I sometimes have a reaction to organic products containing certain essential oils. I don’t have this worry with this product as it is Just Face Cream. Still has the moisturising benefits and I love using as a day cream. Sometimes I use the Mallow Beauty Balm underneath at night for an extra boost.
I noticed a change in my skin immediately using the Herbfarmacy products. I started with the Wash Off Cleaning Mouse, Rose & Echinacea Toner, Skin Rescue Balm at night and the Replenish Face Cream for day. I woke up the next morning after using the Herbfarmacy for one night and my husband turned to me and said my skin was glowing and looked the best it looked in ages. My husband doesn’t notice many things so when he does compliment I know it’s for real.
These products have saved my skin. I am hitting 30 and my body is changing, hormones everything…..and my skin is paying for it. I had blotchy uneven skin with some random blemishes. I noticed results from the very first use. My skin is now smooth, no blotchiness, fine lines disappearing and the hormonal areas around my chin and cheeks are balanced. I now use the Mallow Beauty Balm for an eye cream and as a boost for night time under my face cream. I can truly say I will be using the Herbfarmacy products for a while to come and am now very keen to try some more from the range.
Luxury Foot Cream
I love love love this foot cream. Sinks in straight away and after a few nights of using this my feet were smooth, my heels less cracked and my tootsies were feeling fresh and revived in the morning for my heels again 🙂
Milica – beauty aficionado.
It’s fun to mix it up and create a colour that is fun and unique. I always tend to choose the same colours in different shade variations and so I have always tried to work with shades that suite my skin tone and but just “add” a bit of sparkle, darken it or lighten it what ever I am in the mood for.
So heres how…
Custom-blend using your eye shadow. Use a loose coloured eye shadow, if you have those mineral pots of colour they’re usually the best to blend with. Try to use a polish that does not contain known carcarcinogens like Toluene, DBP and Formaldehyde, like Priti Nail Poilish.
Get a small piece of wax paper or aluminum foil, and pour a little bit of your base colour out on the sheet.
Use an old Eyeshadow powder brush, manipulate the color as you would regular paint.
Note this: white eye shadows will make it lighter and more opaque and black eye shadows will create a smokier version of your initial color, and so on.
Mix the polish and powder up with the old eye shadow brush and then apply. For this it might be a good idea to save an old nail polish brush so you can use it for custom colour applications, wash it out and reuse.
I used a loose pearlescent cream-coloured eye shadow, and turned my deep blood vampy red polish into a brillant fire engine red! LOVE IT!
We’ve fallen for RMS Beauty because, unlike other mineral cosmetics brands, it’s not powdered, so doesn’t dry out the skin or sit in wrinkles. Instead the products use organic natural oils, which work beautifully on the skin, nourishing it as well as delivering rich, lasting colour. This is the only mineral range rated by professional make-up artists and used by the Victoria Secret A-team! We grilled founder Rose-Marie Swift on her eco-credentials and what makes RMS different.
Tell us what made you develop the RMS range?
When I was in my early 20’s in Canada I did a little modeling and learned to make up my own face. A friend suggested me to make-up on a model for a magazine cover which I gladly did, I was hooked! I have now been working as a pro make-up artist worldwide for 25 years, beautifying the A-list. Through the years I have worked with almost every product (as well as skin type) and have learned what works and what doesn’t, becoming totally obsessed with skin – not just the cosmetics themselves but how the skin looked and reacted to these cosmetics.
My background as an advocate for cleaner cosmetics came when my own health deteriorated years ago and through my research I realised many of the chemicals that were in my body were also found throughout thebeauty industry. I started my site www.beautytruth.com in 2004 exposing some of the more serious chemicals in our cosmetics and became well versed on what chemicals a put in products and the ramifications they can have long term. The site created a lot of press for me with people constantly asking: what shall we use? I started studying ingredients labels in depth and was more and more disappointed at what these so-called natural lines thought were clean ingredients. I had no choice but to start my own line of organic make-up and I used the base of my ingredients from the raw food concept of not killing the ingredients with heat and chemicals.
My mission is to educate people to be more aware of not just what they put on their skin but also what they put in their bodies. Your skin is a ‘mirror to your gut’ so whatever is being put into the body is reflected in the skin. Eat healthy, eat wisely, and never underestimate the power of clean water, fruits and vegetables. Make-up should enhance that beauty not be used to cover it up.
What makes RMS different to other mineral makeup ranges?
First of all we are not a powdered mineral line – we are an organic cream color line. We have taken the concept of moisturising skincare and have added mineral color. The products are both moisturising and add flattering color to the face. Powdered mineral lines on their own dry out the skin and this causes premature aging in the long term. They have also been proven to be dangerous when inhaled. We use the best minerals available – they are in their raw state, totally free of synthetic silicon, nano-particles and paraben coatings of any kind.
What are the main ingredients in the products and why did you choose to use them?
My line includes many organic, raw, food-grade ingredients, my favorite being organic, Virgin Coconut Oil (it is a natural anti-oxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal ingredient and even acne-prone skin loves it due to its high Lauric Acid content). Jojoba oil is the closest in composition to the natural oils found in human skin and is extremely moisturising. Cocoa Butter, Castor Seed Oil, Argan Oil (high in Vitamin E), Bee Propolis (an amazing natural antibiotic), Vitamin E that is non-GMO (not genetically modified). I have a thorough knowledge of their origin, manufacturing process, right through to development. My products are concentrated (they contain no water) so last longer than most other beauty products. They deliver a beautiful, natural, glow to the skin, as well as a healing effect, due to the natural enzymes and anti-oxidants, which heat and chemical manipulation usually kill. Over long term they are anti-aging for the skin and are completely without all the synthetics (vitamins) and derivatives that all the other natural/organic lines are adding.
What are the most alarming things you’ve discovered through your research?
The most heartbreaking thing for me is that I really believe the cosmetic companies have no conscience. They are exposing women to so many unhealthy ingredients and long term health problems through these chemicals without providing better choices.
Which celebrities love RMS? Has it won any industry awards?
I have many celebrities that use my line and some of the names I can mention are Gisele, Miranda Kerr, Karolina Kurkova, Zoe Saldano & Michelle Monahan to name a few. I’ve just been recently nominated for an award by www.fashiondelivers.org. Marissa Feinberg who is the Co-Founder of Green Spaces Executive Director, Green Leaders Global has nominated me in one of the categories. RMS Beauty also won the “Beauty with a Conscience Award” Editors Pick for Best Eye Shadow from Natural Solutions Magazine. Make-up artists are also fans of RMS: Christy Coleman (www.christycoleman.com), Wendy Rowe and Zoe Saldano’s make-up artist in LA and Vera Steimberg.

I have big lips and I always need to condition them with balm, still at least once a week I will need to scrub just to keep them really soft. Over time I just started making my own scrubs, its fun and you can get creative with different flavors.
1x pot/stick/tube of lip balm- I have about 10 lip balms around my house, in my car, in my hand bag, at the office I am guessing its status quo for my fellow beauty fiends. Or if you have pure shea butter scrape some of that out in to a little pot.
1x teaspoon of caster sugar
something safe to flavor it, preferably edible, like vanilla essence, coco powder, essential oils like peppermint or lemon.
In a small clean ceramic dish, for example one used for dipping sauce, put the lip balm in to it, add the caster sugar and the flavor. If your using vanilla essence add about 3 drops, coco powder half a teaspoon, essential oils no more then 2 drops (especially peppermint might get too cool on the lips).
Mix it all together until the caster sugar is well distributed through the balm, et volia! LIP SCRUB!
Keep one of your old lip balm containers to store it in.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with this product because I’ve never been a big fan of using cream-ish formulas for my cheeks, they always felt too heavy and sticky. I like soft powdery cheeks.
rms beauty’s lip2cheek is quite a softer formula as compared to the texture of the rms Living Luminizer (which by the way was just ELLE approved for worlds best beauty product) , it’s more of a cream concealer texture.
So, you really do not need to use very much at all to achieve a beautiful flush of colour. In the pot it looks a bit bumpy, but these are beads of moisture from the organic ingredients that literally melt in your fingers-great for the lips! I always take a swipe on my finger, then stipple on the back of my hand to get a nice even “amount” on my finger so there is more control over the colour during application especially for the cheeks.
I recommend that you use a lip scrub, to get rid of any dry skin on your lips before using rms lip2cheek otherwise the colour can catch on the dry skin on your lips, and that’s never a good look. Overall I am impressed by the strong pigment, the quality of the formula, and the fact that on application the result was VERY natural, I used the colour smile and it made my cheeks look pinched(not too heavy) and my lips luscious and hydrated-almost like a stain. What’s great about this line is that the colour wears all day and you always look fresh. LOVE IT!

This should be renamed to Amazing glacial mud, because it totally lives up to its name and has become a must-have for my beauty cabinet. I adore this product for its efficacy; it never disappoints, only delivers. Alaskan Glacial mud has over 60 naturally occurring major and trace elements like magnesium, copper, zinc, sulfur, silver, silica, calcium, sodium, potassium and iron. The most mineral-rich mud in the world, yes the WORLD!
Exceptionally soothing and revitalizing, it also has a wonderful smell – I always use the lavender and vanilla scent. It also doubles as a fine exfoliant, because natural mud has micro-fine silt that is perfect for sloughing away dead skin cells. I think I get a better result if I rehydrate the mask afterwards and add a bit of cleanser and massage before entirely taking it off.
I love that it also has electromagnetic properties of clay attract oils, draw impurities from the skin, and promote circulation. The pure mud is further enriched with a special combination of certified organic and wildcrafted botanical extracts from the Pacific Northwest including kelp, nettle, horsetail, elderflower, yarrow, cranberry, blueberry and vitamins e and b5 that are chosen for their moisturizing, skin-softening, anti-aging and immunoprotective properties. It leaves my skin very soft, hydrated, and clean. Love it!
Lipstick. “Dark wintery colors can be diluted with a balm,” he says. Use your hand as a palette to mix the shade (like a purple-y burgundy or red wine) with a balm or gloss to create a sheer wash for your lips. Then just dab it on with a finger or use a lip brush. Try using RMS beautys Lip&skin balm followed with their Lip&cheek colour.
Powder eye shadows. “To create a cream shadow from a powder one, mix it with moisturizer,” says Strong. Use three parts shadow and one part moisturizer. The formula should still be dry—you’re not creating a soup, he says.
Foundation. If you like full coverage in the winter and don’t feel like purchasing a tinted moisturizer for spring, just add your regular SPF moisturizer to your current base. Or, “wet your makeup sponge and then apply the foundation,” says Strong. This will give you much more sheer effect.
Smokey eyes. We’re not sure about you but we love smoky eyes all year round (for evening, that is). For spring and summer, the look can be tweaked by adding some color, says Strong. Try creating the look with shades of violet and lilac rather than charcoal and black. Or add some shimmer.

While new research shows that vitamin C or E pills may not protect against cancer or heart disease, there’s no doubt these nutrients are essential if consumed as part of a healthy diet. Nothing beats a balanced diet.
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant and could play a role in preventing a range of diseases. It’s also considered important for maintaining healthy, youthful skin.
The Recommended Daily Allowance (RDA) for vitamin E is 15 mg a day for adults. According to the USDA Dietary Guidelines, most Americans need to increase their consumption of foods rich in vitamin E, which can be tricky because foods high in vitamin E tend to be eaten in smaller amounts. Here are the foods where you’ll find the greatest concentration of this nutrient.
Almonds take the prize here, providing 7.3 mg of vitamin E and 164 calories per ounce. Try this recipe for Maple Crunch Oatmeal for a twist on the versatile nut.
Hazelnuts (4.3 mg of vitamin E and 178 calories per ounce); mixed dry nuts (3.1 mg of vitamin E and 168 calories per ounce); and peanuts (2.2 mg of vitamin E and 166 calories per ounce) are other good sources of the nutrient.
One tablespoon of cottonseed oil offers 4.8 mg of vitamin E, while safflower oil isn’t far behind with 4.6 mg. Try safflower oil to caramelize veggies or fruits, like the pear topping in this Butternut Squash Soup recipe.
These may seem like an unlikely superfood, but don’t give up on the humble turnip green: A half cup has 2.9 mg of Vitamin E and just 24 calories. In addition to Vitamin E, a half a cup of turnip greens have 441 mg of vitamin A (in the form of beta carotene) and 24 calories — and with Vitamin C, folate, Vitamin K and calcium as well, they’re far more nutritious than the turnip itself. Try young leaves as an accent to a salad, or boil twice, replacing the water in between, to serve as a side dish. Also look for mustard and dandelion greens for a similar leafy health boost.
One ounce of pine nuts contains 2.6 mg of vitamin E and 191 calories. Pine nuts are a great addition to pasta dishes or salads, such as this recipe for Orzo Pasta Salad.
A quarter cup of tomato paste has 2.8 mg of vitamin E and 54 calories. Try this recipe for Pork, Beans and Organic Beer Chili. A half cup of tomato puree or tomato sauce both have 2.5 mg of vitamin E.
Peanut butter contains 2.5 mg of vitamin E and 192 calories per two tablespoons. A perfect excuse for a PB and J, or you could try this recipe forSesame Noodles.
Plain toasted wheat germ, an excellent topping for hot cereals, has 2.3 mg of vitamin E and 54 calories per two tablespoons. Try this Hazelnut-Honey Granola.
Half an avocado has 2.1 mg of vitamin E and 161 calories.
Check out The Daily Green for more great Vitamin E-rich recipes.
CARGO PLANT LOVE
Went on smoothly and lasted all day. No parabens or petrochemicals was a definite plus. It was deeply pigmented, which is great on the darker colours, however, the shadows designed to be as iridescent had the formulation of a matte shadow. On the lighter shadows, this masques the eye as opposed to enhancing it.The iridescent pigments were not finely milled enough.
Seemed to be difficult to get enough on the brush, needed several dips and applications which is frustrating, however, could be seen as positive as there is not any wastage and it is not messy. I would question how long this tube would last?
Provided sheer colour & moisture, exceptional consistency and smooth and blendable. Feels super nourishing upon wear.
Very subtle effect, not drying and did not transfer easily.
There was a lot in the jar (0.53 oz compared to 0.3 oz standard).
I was pleasantly surprised as the loose powder provided a matte finish with light natural coverage. The shade (20) I have is quite neutral as it is not orange, yellow or pink. I would use this as a finishing powder due to the minimal coverage. It is great as a finishing powder due to the matte finish and flexibility with imperfect shades. I.e – It is too light for my skin tone, but blended well so that is further evidence of the light coverage. It wouldn’t really be that ideal for transporting for topups due to the holes in the packaging (i.e – if it was shaken up in your bag), the size of the compact and the absence of a mirror.
I have sensitive skin & this felt soothing and like I had nothing on my face whatsoever. It is definitely great for individuals with problem skin.
The matte was great to mop up shine, and it didn’t sit in dry area’s.
The lipliner was difficult to apply as it didn’t seem to impart much pigment without pushing very hard on the pencil. The formula didn’t feel velvety enough.
